Inner Pulse

Inner Pulse is my leadership series built around the real moments many of us face at work but rarely pause to name. Each week begins with a short video on a leadership dynamic we often experience in daily working life, followed by a second video offering one small practice to navigate it differently. The week then closes with a reflection post, creating space to think more deeply about the theme, and about how we show up in the rooms we're part of.

We Talk But We Don't Really Speak

"We talk, but we don't really speak."

Sometimes a team sounds aligned.
People nod. Action points get ticked off.
No visible tension.

But something still feels off.
Because isn't just about agreement, it's about .
And too often, that part goes missing.

In the teams I work with, from scale-ups to established teams and companies, I often notice this quiet drift:
Everyone's doing their part… but the emotional truth never enters the room.
And when that happens, slowly leaks out.

We end up with surface alignment:
Yes on the outside.
Unspoken tension underneath.

Real alignment lives deeper, in the things people feel safe enough to say.
Even the hard things. Especially the honest ones.

This week in Inner Pulse, I shared two short reflections:
🎥 One on the silence behind "smooth" conversations
🎥 One on a check-in that can open something deeper

Because the space between and truly ,
That's where teams lose OR find each other.

What's something your team hasn't named, but everyone quietly feels it?
Or more personally:
What's a truth you've been carrying that's ready to be heard?

Sit with it.

Being Confident vs. Sounding Confident

"From Performed Confidence to Real Presence"

There's a moment many of us know well:

You speak up in a room.
You sound .
But something inside feels… .

It's not inauthentic. It's not weakness.
It's just a gap, between what we say and what we feel.
And over time, that gap takes a toll.

🎥 In this week's Inner Pulse, we explored that space:

– The quiet tension between sounding sure and feeling unsure
– The invisible cost of always "holding it together"
– And a simple anchor that can help shift from surface … to embodied

Because confidence isn't a performance.
It's a practice.

It lives not in your pitch, but in your .
Not in your speed, but in your .

A few questions to reflect on:

Where are you showing up "confident"… but not fully connected?

What helps you drop into real presence, especially when the stakes are high?

This is where gets real.
Let it land.

Holding Space Is Not the Same as Fixing

"Holding space is not the same as fixing."

You know that moment in a meeting when someone finally shares something real, a frustration, a feeling, a tension?
And before the sentence even lands… someone's already offering advice.

It happens in high-performing teams all the time.
We're smart, driven, solution-oriented, we want to help.

But too often, what people really need…
is not your fix.
It's your .

Holding space isn't passive. It's a leadership skill.
It means noticing your own "Advice monster", and choosing to stay present instead.
It means letting stretch a little longer.
It means the other person's process, even if it's messy, unclear, unresolved.

This week in Inner Pulse, I shared two short videos:

🎥 One on the itch to jump in with solutions
🎥 One on a small physical anchor to help you stay grounded and quiet, when it matters most

Because what builds safety in a team is rarely the smartest idea in the room.
It's often the moment someone finally felt heard.

🔸 When was the last time someone brought you something hard… and you didn't jump into fixing it?
🔸 What shifted in that moment, in them, or in you?

And if you're the one who often holds space for others:
🔸 What helps you stay present… when your own advice monster wants to roar?

No need to share unless you feel called, but sit with it.
Your might be the most powerful leadership move you make this week.

When You Don't Know What You Need

"When You Don't Know What You Need"

Not knowing isn't the problem.
Trying to push through it…

There are moments when nothing is clear.
You feel off, unfocused, maybe disconnected from yourself.
You can't name what's wrong. You're not even sure what would help.

But here's the truth:

Not knowing is not a weakness.
It's part of being alive.
And sometimes, it's exactly what we need to feel.

So instead of powering through…

Block a little time, with no agenda.
Not to solve. Not to plan.
Just to be.

Feel your breath.
Feel your body.
Let the fog be there without rushing to name it.

Because ironically…
That's when clarity begins to return.

A gentle question for you:
What would it look like to give yourself 15 minutes today, just to not figure it out?

Saying Less, Meaning More

"Saying Less, Meaning More"

This week, we explored something subtle, but powerful:
What happens when we speak… less?

🎥 In Video 1, we named the habit we all know too well:
Overexplaining.
We keep talking, not because we don't know what matters,
but because we fear it's not enough.
So we pile on more.

🎥 In Video 2, we offered a way to check in:
Before you say more, pause and ask,
"Is this bringing clarity, or am I trying to feel safer?"

It's not about .
It's about choosing your words with , and letting them land.
Not to perform , but to speak from it.

A few quiet questions to sit with this week:

When do I tend to say more than needed?

What's underneath that, discomfort, fear, habit?

What might change if I trusted that one clear sentence was enough?

You don't need to say everything.
Just the part that matters.

Let that be the voice they remember.

When Words Build Walls

"Words Build Walls"

Somewhere along the way, we were taught to make our words palatable.
Smooth. Measured. Safe.

But here's the quiet cost of always keeping the peace:
Little by little, we lose the pulse of what's .
Not because we're dishonest,
but because we've gotten used to editing ourselves before we've even fully felt ourselves.

This week was about something simple but tender:
What happens when we protect ourselves so much… that our words no longer reflect our truth?

And what when we briefly,
to reconnect with the voice underneath the polished reply?

This isn't about saying everything.
It's about saying something that's .
Even if it's just to yourself, for now.

Some questions to take with you:

1. What kind of language do I use to "keep things safe"?
2. In what relationships or spaces do I feel the need to filter myself most?
3. When was the last time I didn't say what I truly meant, and what stopped me?
4. What would change in my presence, if I spoke with a little more courage and a little less caution?

No pressure to fix it all at once.
Just .
That's where your begins.

Language as a Leadership Lever

"Language as a Leadership Lever"

This week, we explored something subtle, but powerful:

🗣️ How the words we choose quietly shape how we .

In Video 1, we looked at everyday language patterns that dilute our clarity without us noticing.
Phrases like "just an idea…" or "I'm not sure, but…" may sound polite, but they often signal hesitation instead of intention.

In Video 2, I offered a micro-practice to help you catch those softeners and replace them with words that feel more aligned with what you actually mean.

Not to sound "stronger" in a performative way.
But to speak with more , , and .

Because is never just about words.
It's about what we model. What we allow. What we amplify.

So here's what I'd love for you to reflect on:

What are the tiny phrases you tend to use that soften your voice?

Where might you speak more directly, without losing kindness?

What would shift in your team or conversations if you led with clearer, more intentional language?

No need to change everything overnight.
Start with . That's where begins.

This month, we explored how the we choose shape our .

In Week 5, we examined how can actually carry more .
In Week 6, we looked at what happens when we speak from instead of .
In Week 7, we explored how small word choices can ripple through .
And in Week 8, we tuned into something more subtle:
The words in the room.

Because leadership isn't just about speaking .
It's also about what's not being said, and why.

As a leader, you set the tone.
And sometimes, that means gently naming what others hesitate to express.
Or simply creating space for the unsaid to surface, without pressure, but with care.

So here's your reflection for this week:

What's something that might be in the air, but hasn't been named, in your team or circle?

Is there someone who may be holding back, and just needs a little permission or safety to speak?

How can you use your presence or a simple question to open that space?

This week, the invitation is simple:
Be the one who notices.
Not to fix, but to make it safer to be real.

Because sometimes, the most powerful leadership move
is helping others put words to what they didn't know they were allowed to say.

Redefining Confidence - More Than Feeling Ready

"Confidence Isn't a Feeling. It's a Choice."

This week, we kicked off a new month of , one that explores what it really means to lead from in times of outer .

In the first video, I unpacked a simple truth:
Most of us wait to "feel confident" before we act.
But , especially in leadership, rarely shows up that way.
It's not a warm feeling we wait for.
It's a we make, often in spite of the discomfort.

In the second video, I offered one question I return to when doubt creeps in:
"What would I do right now… if I fully trusted myself?"

Just that.
Try it in real time, and watch what shifts.

As we close this week, here are a few reflections to take with you:

1) Where in your life are you waiting for confidence, instead of choosing self-trust?

2) What decisions or conversations are asking for your presence, not perfection?

3) Can you separate the discomfort of visibility from the truth of your competence?

Leadership doesn't ask you to be fearless.
It asks you to keep showing up, with clarity, even when it's not easy.

You don't have to feel ready.
You just have to be real.

"Stay with the Question"

We're often rewarded for quick responses.
Fast answers. Forward motion.

But sometimes, that speed gets in the way.
Of better ideas.
Of deeper alignment.
Of people feeling heard, instead of handled.

This week, we explored what it means to stay with the question,
to pause, when the urge to solve kicks in.
To let the unknown breathe.

In the first video, I talked about that discomfort.
The moment we want to jump in and wrap it up.
But instead, we stay.
We hold the space.

In the second video, I shared a simple move:
Don't force the answer.
Name the question. Park it.
Come back when there's more clarity.

This is what real leadership often looks like:
Not always being the first to respond,
but creating the conditions for the right thing to emerge.

💡 Where in your work or life are you rushing to solve…
when the wiser move might be to stay a little longer with the unknown?

You don't need to fix it right away.
Sometimes, naming the question, and holding the space, is the leadership.

Self-Trust Is a Muscle

"Self-Trust Is a Muscle"

We've all had those moments.
You're about to speak up… but hesitate.
You have a gut instinct… but reach for someone else's opinion instead.
You know what feels right… but double-check, just in case.

This week, we explored a simple but powerful :

Rebuilding , not as a concept, but as a muscle.

Because in uncertain times, leadership doesn't come from certainty in the world.
It comes from the ability to locate .

When self-trust is weak, we second-guess, delay, or over-explain.
But when it's strong, we can listen to others without losing ourselves, and speak with more conviction.

In the first video this week, I shared some signs and subtle patterns to look out for.
And in the second, a practical practice I call "The 3-Second Gut Drop", a simple way to reconnect with your before reaching out for someone else's okay.

And if you're reflecting with me this week, here's a gentle question for you:

Where in your life are you waiting for permission, when what you really need is your own green light?

You might be more ready than you think.
You might already know.

Your Leadership Narrative

"Your Leadership Narrative"

Not your title.
Not your fancy words.
But how you made them feel.
The energy you brought.
The way you showed up, especially when things were messy or uncertain.

That's your real .
And whether you write it on purpose or not, it's already being written.

This past month, we looked at how to build a sense of ,
Not by waiting for certainty from the outside,
but by learning to trust ourselves on the inside.

We practiced…
→ Taking bold action even when we didn't feel "ready"
→ Pausing before rushing to fix or explain
→ Checking in with ourselves before asking for advice
→ And now… living the message we want to be known for

Because leadership isn't about being perfect.
It's about ,
Between what we say, what we do, and what people feel when we're around.

So here's something to sit with:

· What do you want to be remembered for?

· Are you living in a way that matches that?

· And what's one small way you could bring more alignment this week?

I'd love to hear what this stirs in you.
Let's through it, together.

The Cost of Being the Strong One

"Strength as Identity"

Somewhere along the way, many of us became "the strong one."

The reliable one.
The calm one.
The one who handles everything.

And yes, is beautiful.
It builds . It creates .

But this week, I asked a different question:

What happens when strength stops being a choice…
and becomes who you believe you must be?

When you're always composed.
Always capable.
Always holding it together.

There's a quiet cost to that.

Not because strength is wrong,
but because being human also means being affected.

In the first video, we explored how strength can slowly turn into .
In the second, we touched something very simple:
letting yourself be seen in a small, honest moment, without fixing it, without dramatizing it.

Just human.

Real leadership isn't about dropping your strength.
It's about not hiding behind it.

So here's something to sit with:

Where have I confused strength with emotional control?
Where do I feel I "don't get to" have a bad day?
Who would I be if I allowed myself 5% more honesty this week?

And that shift alone… changes a lot.

Control Disguised as Responsibility

This week we explored something that rarely gets named in leadership:

#Control, that hides behind #responsibility.

"I'll just do it."

It sounds efficient. Mature. Committed.

But in Video 1, we looked at how over-functioning often isn't pressure. It's protection.

In Video 2, we practised a micro practice that I call "10-second transfer" with one grounding question at the time you want to accept a new task or take on a new responsibility:

"Who actually owns this?"

Because when you repeatedly take ownership of what isn't yours,
you don't just help,
You reshape the system.
People stop stretching.
Dependency grows quietly.
You become overloaded.

And growth slows, on both sides.

Not because anyone is incapable.

But because control stepped in too early.

So sit with this:

· Where are you stepping in too fast?

· What discomfort are you avoiding in that moment?

· If you didn't rescue it, what might change?

· And the harder one: Do you feel valuable when you're needed… or when you're not?

The last question reveals a lot.

When You Outgrow a Role Before You Leave It

During a recent project inside an organisation, I noticed something interesting.

A few senior leaders were performing well. Trusted. Reliable. Delivering results.

From the outside, everything looked stable.

But the atmosphere was a bit strange to me… so I dug a little deeper.

In separate conversations, two of the leaders said something very similar:

"Nothing is wrong with the job. It just doesn't challenge me anymore."

That sentence explained a lot.

When a role stops stretching someone, people rarely leave immediately.

First, something more subtle happens. They begin to withdraw parts of themselves from the work, their relationship with the role changes.

#Curiosity fades.
#Initiative becomes smaller.
The work becomes more… transactional.

Organisations often interpret this as #disengagement.

But sometimes the deeper truth is simpler:

The person has already outgrown the role, even if they haven't left it yet.

This week in the #InnerPulse series I explored this dynamic in two short videos, first, the moment when leaders realise their role is no longer stretching them. And second, a small practice I call "the Stretch Audit", a way to periodically check whether your role is still expanding you, or whether it might be time to reshape it… or move on.

In your current role, are you still expanding…
or have you quietly started occupying it?

And if that moment feels familiar, perhaps the real work is not immediately leaving, but finding where growth can re-enter the role again.

Power Without Armor

Over the years, sitting in quite a few leadership rooms, I've noticed something simple.

The moment the most senior person #speaks, the room changes.

People listen differently.
Questions become more careful.
Sometimes the thinking just… stops.

Because #power quietly shapes the space.

This week in #InnerPulse I spoke about that, how easily #authority can become a kind of armor without leaders even noticing.

The higher someone sits in an organisation, the easier it is for conversations to narrow around them.

And it made me reflect on something we all face at times, how easy it is to close conversations without noticing, especially in moments when we know our voice carries more weight in the room.

So a question I've been sitting with this week, and encourage you to do the same:

When people speak in the room you're part of…
do they feel free to think with you,
or careful not to disturb the decision?
